Looking for Beauty
God seems really distant lately with all that has taken place. I have been asking him to show me the beauty of life -- once again.
Early this morning, I went along the nature trails that follow the edge of the lake. Along the path, I saw and heard so many interesting things.
In the stillness, I heard a really unique sound -- similar to the noise whales would make to communicate. It was the ice making an underwater pinging sound. The ricocheting noise went from one side of the lake to the other with each crack of the ice. The broken ice was having a domino effect on the shoreline with a gentle force. Really quite amazing!
I watched a flock of mallards skidding through the open water. They were mingling and chattering as if they were having their first spring reunion. Three, timid sea gulls waited on the rocks like outcasts. One pelican flew over solo - taking time to scope out the situation. (Like the jock at the high school party)
I noticed a tree fallen in the forest (and wondered if anyone heard). Below the stump were shavings and evidence of a beaver making a dam.
In the low spots along the trail, there was tall grass matted down where deer had been sleeping.
There is beauty if you look for it and I thanked God for giving me eyes to see -
